It has finally come time for me to add some bass to my 2004 ext cab f150. My current system consists of:
a Cadence Z5000 (or something) 2 channel stereo amp
a Pioneer Premier DEH-460MP MP3/CD Head unit
a pair of CDT HD-62z 6.5" components.
I've had this setup for over a year and the entire time i've been very unhappy with the bass (with good reason lol). I've been toying around with different ideas to get a subwoofer in my truck, and i have finally decided on how i'm going to do it. I'm gonna put it right here:
I have never seen this kind of install in an F150, so i am a little hesitant to pursue it. That all changed tonight when i went ahead and removed that short section of bench seat, as well as the bracket near the door. The approximate dimensions i have to work with are 21" wide, 22"+ long, and as high as i want. Having the subwoofer fire downwards is not much of an option as the floor slopes downwards, you can see what i mean better here: http://eqdasm.com/gallery/v/truck/PICT0025.JPG.html .
Further pics of it can be viewed at:

I am pretty sure i have made up my mind on getting either an Fi Audio Q, or SSD subwoofer. I have a number of questions so i might as well put them in some sort of easy to read list //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
1. Within those dimensions, can i fit a 15" subwoofer and have it look cosmetically good while still keeping it in appropriate dimensions for a box.
2. Along the same lines, is there anything wrong with having the subwoofer fire towards the front passenger seat?
3. What kind of amp would be the best value for a 15" Fi Q? (i want to spend ~700 after this entire project, less if possible.
4. Fiberglass or MDF? I have pretty much a full workshop to do anything i need, and my father is fairly knowledgeable with woodworking and the sort. But i'm not sure which would be better.
5. Sealed or ported? Can you even port with fiberglass (i dunno //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif). I know the topic has been beaten to death, but does porting the box really take much away from the sound quality?
Thanks for reading, and if i've done something terribly stupid in this post, go easy on me lmao.
