dot dot dot, so i get the car audio section and the speaker wall, punch in the code for the boston's and they sound pretty good. nirvana's nevermind is playing in the hu, i turn it up, like everyone says when you increase the volume, absolutley no distortion, so i was decently impressed UNTIL i see that tweeter has a pair of focal polyglass and k2's on the wall. apparentley tweeter began selling focal after they splited ways with mb quart. so a tweeter employee walks in and i shoot the shit, ask him about the boston pros and focals and he just starts talking up focal like its gods gift to car audio. he grabs his cd case and puts in alice in chains, 50 cent, micheal jackson etc. so that i can compare the pros an polyglass which both run for $600. i must say, the focals absolutley blew away the bostons in clarity, midbass, vocals, nearly every aspect. what strikes me odd is that most people on car audio forums endorse the pros so heavily, but i really dont hear much about the polyglass line. could it be that tweeter is just trying to sell focal over boston, maybe by not tuning the bostons properly. i am somewhat new to car audio, but i honestly believe if there were 10 people in that room at least 9 would have liked the focals more. has anyone been to tweeter and had the same expierence? am i getting conned?

I agree. I went to Tweeter to hear the Z6s and noticed they were selling Focal. I listened to them back to back and I decided on buying the K2P Focals instead of the Z6s. I think the K2Ps are better than the Utopias and just a little better than the Z6s. They just sound "fuller" to me. There is definitely more midbass and they are just a little clearer.

I've always liked the Bostons better than the Focals. There is just something about giving components 200-500WRMS (each side),having them handle the power easy, get loud as hell, and still stay crisp/clear. That makes me smile. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

pfft. i am enjoying my stock speakers in my 92 lesabre...if i turn the bass all the way down, i have almost no distortion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

awesome. yeah i wasnt trying to offend anyone here, i have had a pair of bostons in my previous car and there were fantastic, just thought it was interesting that the focals could sound so much better than the pros...cajun knows what i'm talking about. anyways if you find yourself in tweeter compare the two and tell me what you think. maybe it's all just rigged.

K2P's as alpine said have midbass other than that, the tweets are disgusting like any focal set IMO, and that "detail" you hear is the aluminum coned tweeter that is adding that nice aluminum sound. I'll take a pair of Z6's that have been around for what, 3 years now with no need for improving? Now the Be's are a set of speaker's that god himself owns and well ya know he has the pimp shizzle:D.

The problems I've had with Focal is that they do not come CLOSE to taking the abuse that a pair of Boston's can. They do sound good and are worth the $ IMO, but they didn't hold up for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

hmmmm, i'm guessing was been the way they were tuned simply because there was no chance in hell that anyone could say that the pros sounded better than polys on that sound wall and if they did, they would be either deaf or just flat out lying....and i do understand that everyone has their own specific taste in what sounds good, but the pros clarity alone was well below the poly's. i'll check out the other tweeter in my area to see what happens there, but once again, if you guys get the chance go to tweeter and see what you think. i wouldnt be surprised if they were favoring one brand over another for some reason.

Gonna hafta visit my local Tweeter store I guess. It's always good to have choices.

By reputation the Pro's get insanely loud and stay clear, as folks have already mentioned. That's not a priority for me, and I think they screetch a bit on the highs. The Z's on the other hand are the most neutral and open sounding speakers I've ever heard.. gonna hafta A/B those against the Focals.

FWIW Tweeter's relationship with Boston Acoustics allows them to offer outstanding customer service and warantee coverage. I've been very impressed with that.
