I'm not a Republican, I'm an independant. I lean toward the right on most things but in the end I want what is best for the country as a whole, not some little vocal minority. Say what you want about W, at least he's honest about his intentions and you know where he's coming from. You may not agree with it but that's your right. Call the man stupid and you've really got a loose grasp on reality, though. Think what you want about the war in Iraq. I have some qualms with the way it was and is being conducted (and I can promise you that I know more about what goes on there than any of you). McCain knows a lot. He comes from the perspective of doing the right thing no matter how unpopular it may be. Look at his record in the Senate and you will see that. Contrast that with the many that are going with the "popular" approach. The current popular solution sounds good at home but is one of the most demoralizing things a soldier in the field can hear. He begins questioning why he's there away from his friends and family. He wonders if anything he's done is worth it. That train of thought right there was the cause of the slide in Vietnam, not the actual situation on the ground.

First of all the Clinton administration was HEAD and SHOULDERS above either BUSH administration. We were NOT at war when Clinton was in office. We had a nat'l surplus when Clinton was in office. We have a RECORD DEBT now with dumbo ears in office. Mike, we all know where you stand and you're a blind follower so just let the adults talk in this thread. To whoever said Clinton cut the military needs to check his facts. Reagan started the military downsizing back in the 80s and its been a recurring action ever since. A "leaner and meaner" military is what this country has been after for more than 2 decades. So don't sit there and try to say it was Clinton because thats just partisan BS.

In my opinion I would like to see a John Edwards - Obama democratic ticket. With a more aggresive and proactive campaign like alot of the DEMS used in the '06 primaries and they would win. Rove is going to pull alot of shit like he did in both 2000 and 2004 but they can't sit back and just take the high road like Kerry did. They have to fight fire with fire and they should have more than enough dirt on the Republicans to bury whoever runs.

They actually would prefer to do away with democracy all together and be ruled by a conservative dictatorship. Conservatives also hate fun, they only like pain and misery for the masses, while they enjoy lives of idle luxury. Finally someone who thinks the way I do... for the most part. Ive always thought that since women are viewed as inferior to men in many countries, that electing a woman as president would make us looks weak or inferior ourselves and possibly lead to a war. Me and a friend were talking the other day, and im like "You know, a black guy may be running for president in 08" and he's like, "dude, if a black dude gets elected president, im moving to canada.." But if you really think about it, the only black person that would ever be elected isnt going to be your typical low-class, 28's on an $800 car, 6x9's across the back dash black person.

That description made me lol.

But this is the low impact version of the way 90% of the country (that votes) thinks. The country, in super civilized areas (major metropolis areas) is very ready for WHOEVER as a president as long as they make the right calls when they need to make a decision. However, thats a very small percentage of the overall populace. Most of the voting country are dumb rednecks...I mean, we are one of the only countries in the world where evolution is still criticised by religious morons at a fairly high rate. There is still ACTUAL DISCUSSION about teaching creationism alongside of evolution as valid. Most people are so staggeringly ignorant that they are willing to ruin a childs mind with fantastical nonsense just to feel secure about their own fear of death.

This country isn't going to vote for a woman or a black man in high enough numbers to elect him. I hate the dems and the repubs but given the choice between them I'd take the dems (almost entirely for the worldwide PR).

They say leaner and meaner but all I see is leaner and weeker. We hardley have the manpower to support what is already going on. If anything really serious were to happen I think we would be up crap creek. If anybody is curious why the downsizing is so severe look at two programs. The B-1 bomber and the F-22. The latter has not had the same time to show a piss poor track record but the amount of money spent on it is phenominal and since it has already been in the works for over 10 years with no results I see it as a giant waste. Watch in the next few years at number of suicides, accidental deaths and off duty deaths in the Air Force I think it is going to skyrocket due to the fact that more is trying to be accomplished with less. Like said I just want to see the Military be treated better.

Oh and Donald Rumsfeld is the worst thing to ever happen to the Military.
