I think its hilarious that liberals believe the phrase 'seperation of church and state' means that all traces of religion in the government, every image and allusion, and all funding for anything somewhat faith-related should be done away with. Why?It is also him and the Christian right wing that keep trying to blurr the line between church and state.
"Ohhhh Thomas Jefferson said there should be seperation of church and state!!1!1!zomg!1!!1one!"
Yes, he did, and it's not in the constitution. All the constitution says is that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" One reason people came to the New World is that they were tired of state-sponsored religions. The war between protestantism and Catholicism is what made the founding fathers write that phrase into the constitution. So when they say that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of reliegion, they meant that the country will not have a state sponsored religion. Nothing more, nothing less.
At first, Adam, I was a hair offended at your sig- the term "Hypochristans" got under my skin. But, the sad truth is many, if not most, Christans are people who think Jesus and God are great and all but don't know what they command, nor do they follow the commandments. They're Christians because they think if they have that title, then they're going to heaven. But, there are Christians who follow the law, and who don't have a hidden agenda (believe it or not!). I actually agree with you that hypochristians ****. And from time to time, I am guilty of that title.
