WELDERS come!!

What should you inspect carefully before using grinders or the chop saw?
The grinding wheel / blade. Cracks can cause the wheel to explode at high rpms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok dumbass you lecture me and know nothing about me.. All the teacher does in that class i hand us a book and says read pages _through_ and answer the questions on page ___
He is a careless teacher then! Doesnt mean you should follow.

why is Brandon a dumbass??? You sound like THE dumbass if you arent reading and trying to comprehend the material... do you think welding is a joke? Why did you take the class? You should take it very seriously... study that shit and know it by heart... you will NEVER get a job without the basic knowledge... ever seen a tank blow??? ever got third degree burns???, electrical burns???... dont be such a freakin *******!! -- you started the thread and if you cant handle the feedback then don't post. Pay attention to these guys... most of them know what they are talking about.... I myself was a welder of water line equipment for 5 years... water at 160 PSI is no joke!!! My manifolds HAD to hold and I had to know what I was doing!! Get over your high and mighty teenage self, swallow your pride and take this information provided to heart.

wow how profound
Just steel, heat and sweat, just like my night with you mom last night:eek: lol sorry i couldent resist...

Seriously though, i know what you mean, i love how solid and permanent your creations are at the end.
My creation wasnt very profound. Teh Go-Kart Frame is Teh Broke.

but I was 12 years old with a 30 year old arc welder and no instruction.

What kind of TIG do you have to be capable of welding 1/2" alum?
x2.

My calc teacher has a $4000 TIG welder that can synthesize just about any wave you could imagine. He has welded aluminum as thin as a coke can but he can only go as thick as 3/8" with his skill. His welder came with a certificate from teh department of defence stating it is illegal to ship it out of the country...that's how acurate it is in the right hands.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bsflag.gif.21f42eccd34b7d1eb1608fb1b59b69c3.gif dude my dad just bought a $12,000 Lincoln squarewave, pulse tig and there ain't nothing the defense dept. can do about welding machines..........

and 1/2" aluminum is possible if you preheat the plates but most people would just mig weld when its that thick

is it possible to burn your hand off welding? maybe if you touch the hot metal? but that would burn it..not burn it off? im confused. maybe if you were trying to weld an oreo to a metal coupon like the guys in my class today were trying to do..and the oreo caught on fire..and your hand caught on fire. thats the only way i see possible.

Im very proficient at MIG and Stick welding. Only tried TIG one or two times, because of lack of the machine. I miss welding so much, nothing like the smell of fusing metal together. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Makes me sad

hmmmm....by accident i picked up a 800 degree piece of M series steel, all it did was melt the first 2-3 layers of skin before i dropped it. i don't think you could actually burn it off.

i'm a 3rd generation welder...been doing it for about 23 years now. Mostly heli-arc but can still get down with stick and mig welding...mig welding is like riding a bike, you only learn it once and it sticks with you.

Altho, i no longer do it for a living, i still build all kinds of shit at my old man's shop

ive done all welding but tig. we onw a few mig welders and stick welders..but i have no need to tearn tig because the profession im going into doesnt require it. all automotive collision repair centers a required to use mig welding according to manufaturers specs. plus if you use tig, it puts out a higher current, and usually results in frying every computer in the vehicle
