Why do you bother taking screws out??? You have to putty the hole anyways, taking them out is just extra work.

I like to use glue wash as a sealant, which naturally causes the wood to expand slightly. That pushes the screwheads up and out a bit, which is annoying and taking out the exterior ones alleviates that issue.

Okay, three things need to be bought for this project to finally be laid to rest.

1. Preamplifier (I already know what I'm going to get, just haven't picked it up yet)

2. Subwoofer (18")

3. Finishing materials

Yeah, I'm actually strongly thinkin about the flat black actually. These ****ers are going to cost so much to paint though; that's the only reason why I'm holding off on them.
