weird sounding L7???

I'm running a kicker 10" L7 at 2ohm and I am getting...like a slight crackle at low volume...only when the sub barely hits but it is very noticable....I have no reduction in volume or bass. it hits all the lows just fine when turned up. I thought it may be coming from my kicker amp, I changed subs to test and the replacement sub is clear. does anyone know what this buzzing might be? there is nothing loose hitting the cone underneath...wires ect. please help! extreamly annoying

sounds like your coil is gone bad...is it properly broken in? overpowering maybe?

I bought it brand new, ive been running it with a 600watt kicker amp....I doubt its overpowered. Its never been on full power. Im not too sure what the proper break in period may be for it but I don't pound the hell out of it too often. very rarely actually....so a possible voice coil?

hey man i'm from maine to, oddly enough i've seen a few mainahz pop up.

push on the cone of the sub, does it scratch? it sounds like the coil is coming unwound a bit.

what color L7 is it? my buddy had a silver cone L7 from iirc 2004 and his Kicker KX600.1 had it smoking and destroyed within a month of fair abuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Coils outta alignment.....get it warrantied

Its a silver cone, blue design in the middle. I pushed in the center of it, heard a very slight scratch....I dont understand it because this sub is barely running its min. RMS wattage of 600. never anything more.

lol yea I wasn't born here, Im actually in the coast guard up here in southwest harbor. we just got a pretty good snow today hu? yea this sub is driving me crazy. it was in a sealed box at first and I could hear it alot. now its in a ported box and the air displacement is dampening it but the **** box takes up half my seat.

Might just be a fluke, unless you had the gain all the way up on the amp ....that would clip it and have a ill effect over time

Hmmm....yehh prolly so....being as its the silver cone thats the 06 model, i think,...so prolly not under warranty anymore

You can find some used on here though prolly cheap...and the new model

****...well I have a 05 model of a L5 sitting in the basement, Im thinking about putting it in to see what it sounds like.....hopefully it will do ok....
