Weird noise?

I have two SPL 1200 watt subs. They are both 12 inch. I have noticed lately that when i really crank them out they make a weird noise. Alomst sounds like air coming out of the sub but it can't be. They are in a enclosed box. They sound fine low but when you crank them up you can here it more. Sounds fine in the car but when you pop the trunk it doesn't. Not sure what it is. I also noticed now that the subs are both shutting off. They go off and on which is weird. The amp still has power because the light is on. Could the subs be on their way out? Thanks again

If you hear air, its probably air, check for leaks, low volumes wouldnt create much air pressure, so of course it wouldnt leave, maybe under pressure at high levels it does somewhere... Look also around the surround of the sub... I had a JL 10W6v2 that cracked around, and had that same kinda noise you speak of.

Looking for a new box, any ideas? Also what does the "Filter" option on the sub do? What should it be set at? Thansk again
