weird noise from speakers

I just installed an Alpine 9845, no amps, stock speakers.

I sometimes hear a rhythmic "ticking/clicking" noise (like "tsk-tsk-tsk"). This noise repeats for about 4-5 beats. It doesn't seem to get louder with more volume nor is there any pattern as far as frequency; sometimes I may drive for 3-4 hours and not hear it, other times, it may repeat 2-3 times in fifteen minutes.

Any ideas?

Thanks. Could it be my cell even if I am not actually receiving/transmitting, but just have it on? I have noticed interference like here on my PC speakers when I'm actually keying the talk button.

yes, cell phone towers and your phone communicate regularly so they know where you are!....tick-tick-tick.......

Your cell phone is always transmitting /receiving when it is powered up - even if you're not talking on it.
