weird amp question??

well my friend has a mtx te1501 amp hooked up to a tc 3000 at 1 ohm. when it hits it is hard to explain... it seems like it makes the sub move really floppy. when it hits it almost looks like the cone is being pushed forward more than backward. when i hooked up an aq2200d it was alot tighter on the same sub. what is making that amp do this??

that, and/or 1500w vs 2200w.

Is it a quad 1? Pretty easy to get a wire in the wrong spot.
