Wayyyyy under powered...

haha u cant really say, spend more on oen or the other.. cuase i spent more on the sub.. 8w7 powered by the t3002. $300 to $100.. sound was good. but not wat i expected.. well. the 8w7 blew, and i bought a s12l7. the soudn was still not as good as i was hoping for. didnt reach the range i wanted. so i upgraded my amp to bxi1606d and it sounds alot better. i dindt think an amp could change much in terms of the sound, but it realy got to what i wanted for the bass. i say save up for a more than decent system for both ends.
The amplifier did not change your frequency response. Unless, you changed xover settings while changing amps. Otherwise, no way. Sorry.
I still stand by what I said.

So u went from an amp that could do about 300rms bridged at 2 ohms to an amp that does around 1,500 @ 1 ohm. Gee I wonder why it sounded better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif And I really doubt ur frequency range changed unless like stated before u changed the Xover settings.

Well I didnt know mono amps were used in the front stage, and I know u can run stereo amps to subs, but I figured that the best thing to tell him would be to run a mono amp for subs.

Reason being I said spend more on an amp tho, is because subs can be had for relatively cheaper prices, and u can always upgrade them. But by spending the majority on an amp he opens up more possibilities down the road, without having to worry about upgrading his amp anytime he wants to try something else out.

Just fundamentals, at least thats how I try an buy things.

My 2 cents.

If u get a mono for the left side and a mono for the right side u got stereo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. and depending on how much he's willing to spend sometimes its cheaper to get more power bridged @ 4 ohm than its worth to buy an mono amp that puts out the same power @ 1 ohm. It's just when u get really high up there (looking for 1k+ watts rms) its usually easier to find a mono amp that puts out that power for the price ur willing to pay.

Yep, some people run dual mono amps to a pair of front speakers. The stereo seperation on this type of setup is unbeatable.
Telling the OP to ignore all the possible 2 channel amps out there is doing nothing but cutting down on his possible choices. IMO explaining something incorrectly to someone to keep things simple, while having good intentions, is not a good idea. It leads to confusion.

By using your logic, someone could spend more money to buy the bigger sub, then have room to upgrade amps later. I dont see the amp as the fundamental to the system, its just a signal gain block. the speakers actually create the sound, they are the fundamentals. Not to mention, just swapping out speakers many times means a new box. Screw that. lol

Say If I was to get a kicker comp (sounds like that is the best choice for spending around 60$ on a sub) handles 400 rms @ 4ohms. Can my amp be anything that handles 4ohm or less? Will a 1ohm mono amp damage 4ohm speakers? Or does it only work that way when you try and play lower ohm speakers on a higher ohm amp?

Right now it seems like the cheapest thing to do would be get a 2chan. amp that can do 1000w rms bridged. Is bridging "bad" for your amp? Would 1000w be bad for a 10-12in Kicker comp?

Your amp will run at what the speakers impedance is at. So if u get a 4ohm sub and run it on an amp that can run down to 1 ohm than the amp will be running a 4ohm signal to the sub (which is usually 1/4 the power it puts out at 1 ohm). It'd be better to find a 2 channel that bridges to around 4-500 watts rms @ 4 ohm. post a link to the amp u say puts out 1,000rms @ 4ohm. It would work u'd just have to set ur gains low.

bass boost set it at 18db. gain turn it all the way up. high pass set to 250hz. low pass set to 50hz. enjoy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
