Ways to establish credit...?

no doubt. for my age my bank account isnt too shabby, i have enough for a rainy day if i have unexpected bills come up, i just have no credit.
and apparently thats just as bad/worse than having bad credit.

i didnt have any credit either, thats why my parents co-signed for me so i could get it...i got it when i was 18.

so im feelin a credit card or two. do alittle shopping, but nothing i cant afford.
now, lets talk cards. visa, mastercard? whos got the goods.

i have a visa checkcard now, but im just now being told that dont do shit unless i dont have any cash in my accounts. if i do, even if i use it as credit, it pulls out of my debit account?
A debit card does you no good for credit.

Go to your bank and ask about credit cards, if they won't give you one ask about getting a "secured credit card". they should hook you up with that.

Get one or two...use em once to make sure they report to your credit, and you'll start lookin better over time.

and ive got a chase mastercard right now, i use it ALOT, but i also have 5 months no interest, so when thats up im gonna slow down alot...but i still put 50-100 bux every week towards it to pay it off........

I used to be the same way and am 4k in the hole. Credit cards are the devil.
thats why IMO a gas card would be a better option, if you can only use it at a gas station then spending will be much less and there would be less risk of getting way into debt.

a gas card with a $100-200 limit is the way to go, pay it off every month for a few years and your credit will be fine

I had credit built up already, so when I bought my car the semi-hott freakishly tall supposedly wearing heels that i didnt see and my mom said the chick was wearing girl, looked up my shit, saw I had credit, was impressed asked me to dinner, which I drove her to in my new car, then we went back to her place and we shagged

nice. good info here.

now, someone said something about a discount on gas card? whos that with? cuz then i could actually end up saving money, as long as im not behind in payments. right?

and yeah, the only thing i really didnt have the money for at the time i bought it was my truck. but it took so long to find it and i didnt wanna lose it cuz i knew i wasnt gunna find anything close to it ever again for the money, so my parents bought it cash, and i paid them back. wasnt on the lot more than a half hour. was drivin by right as they got it off the truck from auction.

thall be me in a few years..

I couldn't even get approved for one of those. I don't know where all these high rollers were getting their credit.
Many times card companies look @ parental income for college age kids. I had friends in college with 20,000 dollar credit cards based on parental income. CC companies love this... little Johnny racks up a big bill in college and usually Mom and Dad bail them out.

Anyway... I got my first Credit Card in college. Paypal sent me an offer for a VISA through them (their name on it, regular VISA). Took it... still have it. My credit is pretty solid... have 6 cards now between myself and Sundown Audio. Only 1/2 have any balance on them, though.
