waverunners/jet ski's

truly orgasmic... lol.
i was doing some research, and a lot of sources say that yamaha is more reliable than sea doo. Have you had any problems with your Sea doos?

And ya, like 2008 models are way too pricy for my budget. Why do you recommend the Gtx? i noticed that it is in the "luxury" section. Wouldnt one from the "musclecraft" section be more fun/faster?

And what is the top speed of your sea-doos?
I get em to sit around 65-68 when im cruising.

Our local marina, RC Powersports is the biggest Yahmaha and Sea-doo dealer in the region and they said they see even amounts of problems on each but that is very little for either. He said the problems really occur form bad drivers hitting sand or rocks not engine problems. I have had those two for 5 years and no issues, ever. I got a RXP last year but havent gotten any pics yet since its in storage and love that too.

btw the yahmaha 1800 isnt that much faster than the INTERCOOLED 215 HP SUPERCHARGED 4-TEC but ok. And last i heard all PWCs were governed to 70mph but I dont know if that stands still as of last year
I think that was in response to you saying your ski-doo can walk a yamaha.

any average yamaha in its class it will walk. but if were talking the sport edition ones I guess I was wrong on my statement. Either way I have never had an issue with liability and neither has anyone I ride with. I think either way youd be happy with a yamaha or a sea-doo

man... im so confused now.

say im getting a model from 04-05, what is a reasonably priced model that will reach in the 60's for mph. i would like a recommendation from both sea doo, and yamaha so that i may compare and contrast, and how much $ should one from this time frame cost?

also, how will i know if the engines havent been run to death and are going to give soon? is there a way to check the hours of the engine?

Wow a bunch of incorrect statements in this thread:

My $0.02, your best bang for the buck on a brand new ski is the Kawi STX-15F. They just dropped the MSRP down to $8200 and you can probably pick is up for $7500 + Tax and Trailer ($600). It has good acceleration (holeshot) and decent top end of 62 MPH. Riva makes an RPM kit that will get it to 65ish, which keeps right there with all of the Turbo'd and SC'd skis. Plus did I mention this ski is NA, so it has good fuel economy and range (probably 110 miles on a tank).

Yamaha's are the best in terms of reliability but their only worthwhile product right now is the FXHO Cruiser or a used 03-05 GP1300R. The FXHO is the Lexus of the water and the GP 1300R provides the best hull but has a crappy 2-Stroke.

Sea Doo's are the fastest without a doubt right now stock... The RXP-X will do 67 stock and a few mods gets you to 75, which is insane on the water.

Hondas **** and forget anything used by Polaris.

my friend has one that goes up to 70 with 1 person on it (its a 3 seater yamaha like 4 or 5 years old). With me riding behind him, we can go in the high 50's. I way over 200 and so does he. Not fat at all tho
Seriously doubt is as the old yamaha 3 seaters would barely even touch 60... Sorry but you'd be lucky to be doing 55 on GPS/Radar. Never trust the odometer.

All Jet Ski Manufacturers make one at any level, and currently Yamaha makes the fastest by a long shot, Supercharged 1800 CC. Anyway Sea Doos arent bad, but have had reliability issues. At my parents lake house both of our neighbors had Sea Doos, one was like 05 GTX, and it had quite a few problems. Best friend had a Kawasaki and it ended up needing new motor at 100 hours. We have 800 CC Yamaha and its our third in like 12 years and never had a problem with any one of them. It does 50-52 tops with two people on it. look for an 04-05 Yamaha 1200, it does mid 60's
Yamaha

Honda

Kawasaki

Sea Doo

Polaris

Tigershark In that order
Incorrect, Yamaha's are typically the slowest out of the top 3 manufacturers and the new SHO isn't all that impressive for it's size. Wait a couple years until they have perfected this new engine and put it into a 2 seater hull, then we've got a serious ski.

Seadoo ftw

also, the rxp isnt the nessasarily the fastest out of the hole. take a 96 xp 800 ccs, suuped up from ppg( in flordia, do awsome work!) out of the hole than a rxp any day.

I say if you want quick and top of the line preformance, get the sea-doo.

Yamahas are also realy good, reliable more of a family rider.

tigersharks are poc. flip it over once, and that bad boy is hydrolocked, and is a bish to get out. also they were suued for copying yamahas(?) model and are now out of business.

ive always personally wanted to pick up a wetjet, or a stand up and do some crazy tricks, but thats just me and you would get tired after a lil while.
Actually the stock RXP-X and RXP are the fastet holeshot skits on the market. If you're going to compare a modded 96 xp then you would have to take it up against a modded RXP Stage 3 and you'll get your azz handed to you.

the seadoo RXP looks intense. i think it goes something like 0-50 mph in 2.9 seconds. that would be insnae. pricy tho..
man why does everything fun have to be pricy..
Almost bought one of these a couple years ago they are insanely fast

oh, and by the way, where do i buy these 02-05 models? just from random people in town selling them? or is there some kind of dealership that sells older models? or should i use craigslist? ebay shipping would eat me alive so forget ebay.
Try the local paper, boat trader, or bargan trader. They usually have some for good prices if you are looking to buy used

Sea Doo RXT, baby...I have an '05 that will run 65 on GPS in 1 to 2 foot chop, 67-8 on smooth stuff. I wanted the biggest and baddest couch out there. And this it, mano.Just keep her serviced on schedule and have white-knuckle fun.
how much did u pay for yours? im assuming you bought it used? or did u have it since 05?

Seriously doubt is as the old yamaha 3 seaters would barely even touch 60... Sorry but you'd be lucky to be doing 55 on GPS/Radar. Never trust the odometer.
ya i think my friend may have exaggerated a little.

let me do some research when i get home from school today, and ill try to narrow it down to some models. ill also consider that kawasaki one u were referring to. would u recommed the new kawasaki or an older sea doo?

i also want reliability. my dad's gonna get pissed if we have to pay for repairs on it all the time, or if it breaks down in the water. Is this common? or if it is serviced on time, will most of these break downs be avoided?

Ive had 4 or 5 SeaDoo's over the years.

2 '00 GTI

1 '01 GTX

2 '99 XP

My fav is obvously the XP, but they are single seaters and iffy with 2, but throw a quick trim setup on them and they are the most fun ever. As far as 3 seaters the GTX was the best I ever rode. Very stable and 130 hp would get you moving. I bet now they can be had still in great shape with low hours for $2500 or less.
