Wattage Output from Bridged Channels

I should probably tell you that having an enclosure built for your subwoofer is optimal as well. There are a lot of reputable designer/builders on the internet forums. For example, SPY and Pound That Sound do excellent work and Argent Audio is doing pretty nicely as well.

Also, the Image Dynamics subwoofer I linked for you is a 10" model. The same sub is also available in 12" and 15" sizes if you'd rather have something a little larger. Just make sure to buy a 2 ohm dvc model so you can obtain a 4 ohm load (unless you decide to go a different route as far as amplifiers are concerned).

I asked the deadener question before I looked at the link. I have 18 sheets of 18x32 dynamat downstairs, got a sweet deal on eBay - brand new.
The light dimming is my biggest concern. Granted I had the gain turned up higher than it should have been, it's still not pushing very much.

I'll see what I can do about having the big three done, that's a necessity.

As far as a bigger battery, I'm not sure what I should be getting. It would help if I knew what kind of stock battery comes with my '03 Jag. I'll see if I can take a peek under the hood and find out.

Thanks a bunch for your help.
You really shouldn't need a massive battery for the Crescendo amplifier. You'd probably get by with a Kinetik HC2400 under the hood. Or you could add a smaller second battery in the trunk, but that really shouldn't be necessary.

The Dynamat will work just fine. Dynamat Xtreme and Second Skin Damplifier Pro are all I use.

Thats one thing I noticed. So I should be looking for a 2 ohm dual voice cord subwoofer for a total of 4 ohms, rated around 500w RMS?

I'll take a peek at the enclosures. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. Sure learning a lot.

If you end up buying the Crescendo amplifier you'll need a 4 ohm single voice coil or a 2 ohm dual voice coil subwoofer.

No problem.

While I'm at it... what kind of enclosure do you recommend - ported or sealed?

The 200w RMS @ 4ohms Pioneer that I used to have was in a sealed enclosure and wasn't very powerful at all. Only thing it shook was the rear license plate and I solved that problem with a couple strips of weather stripping.

I'm more than likely going to have a custom box made but I'm still not sure which route to take if i'm pushing 500w RMS. Thanks.

Generally speaking, a subwoofer in a sealed enclosure built to manufacturer's specs will produce tight/precise bass. The same subwoofer in a ported enclosure built to manufacturer's specs will often times be louder but less precise. That's a watered down answer, but it'll do.

To put it simple, choosing a ported or sealed enclosure will depend on the subwoofer you purchase and the type of bass you're looking for. Some subwoofers perform better in sealed enclosures while others are at their best ported.
