Watt checker correct ? ( HK-4000D)

http://www.bcae1.com/voltages.htm

As for the DMM giving an average reading... I doubt he's getting 9000+ RMS out of that thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Generally = Not always

If it does measure average voltage, my guess would then be that he's clipping the sine wave, which would increase average voltage significantly ...
Clearly it's not 9000w, but if the measurements are done w/music I could see a spike getting nubers like that, especially assuming there's at least SOME clipping going on.

Regardless - I think we've proven the point that a power measurement that's this un-controlled really has no meaning - theoretically OR in the car. And we haven't even considered impedance.

Ament brotha! That's why I hate sites like that Concept site......all it does is confuse people and make them think they know their amps true wattage.

In reality this amp will not do 4k @ 2 ohm with 14 volts. It will do more like 3k max. I own a few of these and do testing all the time. Mine are modded and run them on 16V batteries(charged to 18V). I burp at .3 ohms. I have tested these amps against many other amps to see how this amp really stacks up. Amazingly with a 16V+ system this is one of the most powerfull amps you will buy. However, with a 12V setup unless you have a few yellow tops you will not like it. The amp will work at 2 ohm ONLY! with 12V if you drop any lower on 12V(unless burps) the amp will fail. Just for reference the Clif Design CDX-20A(which I owned), Visonik VX4000D(which I owned), and MA Audio HK4000D(wich I now own) are all the same amp. The differnces are minor now with new construction and design. The CDX-20A was geared more towards better sound, but all in all they are the same. I run the MA Audio HK4000D because of the casing it uses. They will never get hot and they use a digital voltage meter which is nice if you need that. The CDX-20A and VX4000D both have solid cases and use 2 fans. One fan blows in and one fan blows out. This is a nice setup, but they do tend to get hot with long term use. If anyone needs exact facts or has questions on these amps feel free to contact me with a PM. I am sponsored by The Anaba Group(maker of MA Audio, Visonik, Clif Design, Audiobhan, and many others), and I have tested there amps against mainy SPL sytle amps from other companies.

Good luck with the math. It always looks better on paper then it does in real life... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm not that loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif......

But mine do a little bit at 18V @ .3 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

you can buy one and then buy some batteries and see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I will say this...the HK4000D they way I run them will kill ANY amp you think of easy and in some cases it will out do 2 of them...

I will be doing a new test soon using the Audiobahn rack 5k amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
