Water pump problem

I started today on replacing the water pump and got to the fan clutch and cannot get it off. I rented the fan clutch wrench and other wrench to ghet it off and it just strips it. I am turning clockwise like instructed everywhere and I have no idea what to do from here. please hellp. Also its a 1989 ford bronco 2
