Want to use 18 cubes?

U mad brah?
I just bought a 97 Town Car from my Grandpa for 2500. Car has 101K on it. Car is MINT inside and out. I am planning a HUGE system for this bad boy. I have 18 cubes to work with! I will run 3k-4k RMS for the subs depending on what I get. I want to max my cone area. I know for a fact I could do two 18's easily but maybe that wouldn't be the best option as far as cone area goes? My box will be tuned 30hz-35hz depending on the sub. I almost certainly have to have the vent firing into the cabin because the box will basically take up the whole trunk with the exception of the ledge. I will have to mount the 2 channel and mono amp on the box. Any input would be great. Thanks.

(6) 15's that require ~3ft^3 a piece would be a hell of a setup. 6 Type R 15's would be a nice fit for 3.5-4.5k watts and would be pretty cost effective. Not sure of the enclosure specs though because they aren't listed on Alpine's site?

I want to keep the sub costs below 1000 if possible so Type R's would be nice. It really comes down to 12s vs 15s vs 18s. I want that wow factor.

12's take around 2.5 cubes, 15's take around 4 cubes and 18's take around 6 cubes. I have around 15 cubes to work with after I factor in the vent and sub displacement.

you can get 18 cf out of that trunk???
The trunk is actually 22.3 cubic feet total. 2 cubes are for the ledge that splits the cabin and the trunk (batts can go there). You can fit a legit 18 cube box in that trunk WITHOUT building it inside the trunk. The trunk is ****ing massive.

fuk thats a huge trunk!

with 4k Id go with 3 15" DC level 4's with level 5 soft parts

type r's wouldn't be my first choice....

I'm not by any means considering Type R's as my first choice. I will most likely do 4 15's or 3 18's if possible.

there was talk previously about type args, I just meant that it wouldn't be MY first choice. If I was me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

What are the box dimensions that you have to work with? I'm sure with 18's you'd have to fire them up, which I wouldn't do in a trunk. If you're planning on taking up all 18ft^3, then do not fire the subs/port to the back because you'll more than likely not have enough room around the box for the bass to make it's way into the cabin. That's the tricky thing about trunk cars, sometimes less is more, and normally cramming as much as you can doesn't yield the kind of results you're looking for.
