Want to lose some weight

^^ well it depends how old are you and yeah i definately dont have skinny body type, i was overweight most of my life and to gain alot of muscle you need alot of lean fat.... i just turned 20 and i wont be happy until im at least 230 of muscle....id like to know what the average is...

anyone out there whose 6'2"....what do you weigh?
I"m 22 and i know theres a chart somewhere that shows the average, skinny, obese weight/height differencial chart.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this... but I'm looking to lose some weight. I'm 16, 5'11" and 210lbs. I've gained 50 pounds in the last two years and it's just disgusting. I enjoy fast food way too much.
I own a gym membership to LA Fitness and they had a promotion when I first signed up for a personal trainer for real cheap... so I have access to a personal trainer at the gym for the rest of the year. Only thing is, he's skinny and when I was strict with the appointments at best I just toned up around my arms, but that's about it.

I don't mind cooking for dinner/breakfast, but I'm never too sure what to eat and I'm not going to try some recipes on Google. At school I have lunch at noon daily for 30 minutes, and the school menu is Pizza Hut and all this fattening shit... so most days I skip lunch and make up for it later //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Also, I remember people discussing protein powder and shit in some threads here... not sure if I should go out and get any or what not. I would be so comfortable at 180.

Does anyone have any recipes that are healthy, recommended eating schedule and protein supplements and all that advice? This forum is predominantly male, and I'm sure some of you were a little overweight like myself and have lost weight before. Also, I go to the gym and without the personal trainer, I'm usually clueless as to what is best for me.

I love cardio, but not sure what I should keep my heart rate at and how long I should do some machines and if it even helps me lose weight.

Just figured it was worth a shot here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Thanks in advance for any valuable advice.
-Run

-Eat what you need in calories and no more

-Drink coffee and tea instead of soda. No calories (or small ammount if you add sugar) and caffiene boosts your metabolism.

-Dont eat fast food unless you must, if you must get a salad or chicken sandwich

Gyms are worthless unless you are trying to tone or bulk up. The only excersize you need if you are just trying to loose the flab is arobic exersize...running is cheap (almost free) and the best thing out there unless you can stand to swim for miles on end and have a place to do that....laps get boring after a while. The only benefit swimming has over running is it is easier on your joints...but running makes for healthier bones over time. You can also work up your heart rate for longer periods of time because it is a more natural motion.

im 20 5'10 250lbs i squat 400x10 bench 235x10 in 3 sets of 10 (most recent from this week.)
Im 5'6'', 135lbs, I squat twice my body weight for reps and bench 40lbs over my body weight. Im also around 10% fat.

i didn't know caffeine did that:eek:

Well besides that the E and the I are transposed.

Yes it does. It also makes you run faster....on the caffeine high or not, if you've had a dose that day you will likely run 30sec faster in the 5k. I read it in Runners World and I tried it out myself.

Caffeine is some good shit.

for football would be the opposite. "skinny people cant live with em cant eat em" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

all these quick fix diets and super pills are nothing but bandaids for a more serious problem. the key is simple. eat right and CONTROL. calories in MUST be less then calories out. calorie counting DOES work but it takes alot of self control. it is the ONLY RIGHT way to loose weight. get this system down pat and unless you have a true medical reason for being over weight it will be impossible to continue to gain weight. everything you do burns calories. even sitting on the couch watching tv. the idea is to be sure that in your everyday life that you are burning more calories then you are taking in. by doing this you MUST lose weight.

Another important aspect that is over looked is a good support system. dont be affraid to tell your friends and family what your trying to do so that they can help you succeed. it will be alot easier to do if you have people that are close to you cheering you on.

get active. get educated and get in control!!

here are some good places to start

I remember one night i was watchin this infomercial about eatin right to lose weight and i'm thinkin how can you eat the best foods if they're fatty and it had all these people lose 50 some pounds all my eatin they're favorite foods then the host says "you train your body to lose the weight while still eatin what you love" interesting huh?

if you have the gym membership take advantage of it, might as well get your money out of it. go with the trainer and tell her your goal. tell her that you dont care if your arms are toned you there to drop weight.. then she can make a plan that works for you.

Empty out all ur change from your car and dont carry any money with you to school or werever your going. that way you can only eat what you bring with you(healthy foods) and even if you get that impulse to get a snake junk food whatever you can buy it cause u dont have any money.

Go spend some time waxing your car or working on a hobby if you get lost working on somthing u will forget all about food and snacks that way you only eat when your supposed to. Clean out the fridge.. only have food in there that you know are good for you. so when its time to eat its going to be good for you.

let your girl friend know your trying to lose weight so she can help. that way your not going out to dinner and killing ur eating plan. That and i know it seamed like most of the people were kidding about how messing around burns cals. but it does so as long as your girl is down with that... it will help burn it off.

running will deffinitly help to, i started off at 240lbs.. im now down to 180, ive been running 2miles aday and spending about 7-8hrs a week in the gym. it took me about 8months to get there but my body is completly differnt and my girl friend is def. happy with me now lol. that and i leave for boot camp for the marines in 12 days so by the time i get out of that i should be in **** good shape lol.
