want some opinions on 6x9s

Was thinking about getting some new 6x9's with my christmas money i will be getting you know from family and what not. but i was wondering what would be a good pair of 6x9s here's my set up right now deh mp4800 pioneer Hu , Alpine 2 way component side door speakers , 2 12 inch pioneers running at 800rms a piece with a digitalaudio amp and the 6x9s i have right now are bouston acoustic's and i just don't like em really i was just wondering what would be a good set i was either thinking alpine or kicker? what you guys think

replacing bostons with alpine's or kickers? the thought of even running 6x9's makes me vomit, but i'd look into 6.5 if it is a must

Some of the nicer ones are the JL VR690's, Polk Momo MMC690's, and if you can fit them the JBL T595's (top mount).

Other worthy mentions are the Alpine's and Infinity's. Pioneer made some nice ones a year or so ago with a yellow carbon fiber cone and a nice tweeter not sure what they offer now.

Clif Designs makes some decent ones for cheap as well.

Some of the best 6x9's ever were the Cerwin Vega CS-18a's which were a cast frame with 8lb magnets and a resetable horn tweeter incorporated into a metal mesh grill - very nice! Rare and tough to find now though. The surrounds were red woven pleated cloth that was treated so they would never wear out.

Thanks , but hey iceteebone i can't go 6.5 there 6x9s for the rears and thats all that will fit they will be going in a 1989 mark vii

that's why you make a baffle. why do you feel you need rear speakers anyways?

yeah i wanted to , i know people are gonna rip on me for this i know how to make a baffle for like side doors but not rear's never done it .

Or just take out a 6x9, make a template with it, cut out an MDF baffle and then cut a 6.5" mount hole in it.

aren't your subs in the trunk? generally, midbass makes the system sound worse coming from the rear. not always, but most that i've heard sounded better with the subs rear and midbass, highs up front.

Well i don't turn the bass up at all on the Hu and i just use the rears so that people in back can hear the actual music even though people hate sittin in back cause of the bass is crazy haha. but some do so that's why i got em back there
