wanna see guts of apsm-1500

just figured i would pop in here and mention something,

had the first local comp of the year today and i hooked up my apsm 1500 on my xxx to go and play around with. the xxx in 3.5 cubes at 36 hz it put up a 142.5 at 37 wired to 1.2.

so i decided to wire it down a bit, put it down to .3 (Q 1.2 on the xxx) and did a 145.5 at 36 hz.

so they can do some work.

Damn yall let this thread die before Im convinced to buy 2 of these and strap em to my 8's! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i kinda want to get 3 more and run one to each coil on my xxx just for giggles.
How did you like just one of them though? what do you have it wired down to for daily? or do you not use it daily.

Really just trying to see if the people who use them are happy with them?

i did a complete clamp test on mine. here is my post from the other forum

SO, lots of people know about the cheap little apsm-1300... i was browsing the web and noticed the apsm-1500... i was going to snag a 1300 BUT hated how they had the crossover on the BOTTOM OF THE AMP!!! yeah thats practical! the 1500 does not. reminds me of the massive n4 which comes in at a nice $340... The APSM-1500 was a measly 125.99 shipped on fleabay.

SO stay tuned for gut pics, and HOPEFULLY clamp time as well as oscope images to see up to what power output does the good ole square wave take effect!

here are some factory pics of it:

results:

ok, my results are in for this little bugger. after a week or two of running it, getting comfortable with it etc. i clamped it. results are as follows:

APSM-1500 TRUE rms RatingsTest 1: Car off resting at 12.9V, 40hz test tone, Gain set exactly at half way (happens to be my head unit output voltage ~3.4v)

Result: 1241 @ 1.3ohms voltage drop to 12.4v

Test 2: Car on voltage at 14.2v, 40hz test tone

Result: 1413 @ 1.4ohms voltage drop to 13.8

At what point does the amp produce a clipped signal if at all?

After hooking her up to my pocket o-scope it was determined that at ~ 1300 @ 1.4ohms (test 2 setup) the amplifier began to send the good ole square wave with my volume on my head unit at 31/40 in which at 36/40 my head unit sends a clipped signal.

Final thoughts- I am pleased with my purchase. for a measly $125 a solid 1300 watts at ~ 1ohm can be achieved. The amplifier runs VERY hot as expected due to the lack of heatsink to produce a MINI amplifier.
as with 2000lade i am very interested in seeing others results. sadly it did not do rated power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
edit: ALSO please do NOT compare this to lets say a sundown 1500. thats ignorant. this amps sound quality is just above par. yes it is possible to tell for a sub woofer application. Comparing to my ID q 1200.1 amp the ID had a much smother/less distorted sound to my ear. now please kids keep the rest of this thread insightful... please?

Glad to see another review. Where exactly was the amp placed? was it somewhere that could lead to eat getting hotter than normal?

Also did it get hot on plain old music or did it only get hot when playing sine waves?

ive been running it at 1.2 daily. when i get back from florida im actually going to be getting a second one and seeing how bad they get trashed running strapped at 1.2

For a sub that small.. Id like to see an 8 or 6.5 @ around 55-70 htz usually sound pretty nice and clean on approx 40-100 rms @ 4 ohms. 8 ohms I...
