has anyone heard a 12 or 13w7 sealed ran off the recommended watts?

your thoughts please.....

in about 3 or 4 weeks i'll have my 13w7 sealed in my eclipse

very clean sounding, immaculate. too bad they're overpriced or else i'd have one by now. although, the 1000wrms is underrating it...

I've yet to hear a W7 that I've liked. They get loud, but the ones I've heard have sounded like crap. Just thudding bass, no smooth transients to tie everything together, and they completely overpowered the frontstage and didn't blend at all. Just overall sounded very, very unnatural

Don't go sealed--I was running the 12w7 sealed in exact airspace/watts and it sounded pretty crappy. On the other hand, I heard a ported 13w7, and was blown away.

looks like I've just asked the wrong people the wrong question........ I'll single out those that I'm interested in hearing from....

comments like "w7 sounds like crap" is not really appealing to me, seeing how everyone that has heard both my 12 w7 and my 13w7 setup have said "best overall setup i've heard."

now for those that have had experiences w/good 13w7 or 12w7 setups please comment

12w7 sealed. JL 500/1. Thought it sounded great Box was a little smaller than spec becaue he was trying to keep the bass tight. well here's the deal.....

all i've ever heard were w7s ported.. never heard one sealed..... maybe some were in shitty installs but I KNOW FOR A FACT my box/sub/amp setups have been perfect..... so, i'm asking this b/c i haven't had experience w/the 13w7 sealed or any for that matter.....

its not like i have a choice, i'm keepin the 13 and i'm not doing pure custom install....... it should be nice though.....

oh yeah, those that said it sounded like crap or whatever, please come join me for the local meet we're having at the end of Oct. I'm sure minds will change

Any reason for not going ported in your new car? Im not too fimiliar with the trunk space of an Eclipse. I'm sure you will ike the sound, although it wont be as close to as loud as it was.

first of all, b/c people that say all w7 setups that they have heard sound shytty won't help me at all...

ported 13w7 in taurus loud as heck

sealed 13w7 in eclipse (hatchback) less space for sound to travel too..

not going ported b/c would be "too much" bass - wow can't believe i just said that, but lets just say "my ears pop a lil throughout the day now, so i'm being safe (if there is such a thing), lol....

nah, the real reason is space!

Anyways, like I said in my original post, all of the sealed box W7 I've heard just sounded very unnatural. Just thudding, thumping bass. No smooth transients, no smooth transitions; it was either hard thumping or nothing, and no smoothness between the thudding. They were all ran with JL amps and in "proper" enclosures. And the thudding was loud enough that it just didn't blend with the rest of the system...didn't blend in with the midbass at all, there was no transition between the two.
