I have six of the original JL audio 10w6 dual 6 ohm subs and one sundown 1500d. I know that i can run three of them at 1 ohm, or 4 ohm. I dont have room for six of them, so what i need to know is what impedence i can get with either 4 or 5 subs. So im looking at either 8 or 10 6 ohm coils. The wire wizard on rockfordfosgates site doesnt calculate for 6 ohm coils, and i have no idea because ive never worked with 6 ohm coils. ANy help will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I would go with 4 just so you can get more power to each and have more space to optimize with a better box...

But with the 4 dual 6 ohm subs you can run them down to .75 ohm or 3 ohms...

To get the .75 ohm you run each subs coil in parallel (3 ohms) and each sub in parallel (3/4=.75 ohm)..

To get the 3 ohm you run each subs 2 coils in series (12 ohms for each sub) and then all of the subs in parallel (12/4=3 ohms)..

Good luck

Would you run a sundown at .75 ohms? OR can i get enough power at 2 ohms? OR is 1 ohm load good enough for three of them?

From experience, those subs are great with 400w to a trio. They aren't going to like 1500w to three at all. I had 6 of them in a reg cab Ranger running off a 2100 HCCA at 2 ohms. The enclosure was around 4 cf sealed with 3 chambers. It was feel it in your chest, blur your vision loud, not DB Drag loud because it was set up for music and sounded great, but for a sealed setup back in the day, it was loud.

So is a sundown 1500 at 2 ohms good enough for 6? lmao, i know there is only one way to find out and that is to try it, but i dont want to build 5 boxes to see which one is the best.
