W6 SQ question.

I just spent about an hour at sound advice (really nice guys), and I heard 2 W6's in a ported box and played hardcore on them, was slightly disappointed, but I'm assuming its because it was in a ported box and not a sealed.

So he took me to his car with a single 10" W7 in a sealed box and put my music on, and I'm assuming it was his settings on his amp, but it didnt sound too much different than my current subs. (yes, the shitty power acoustik) when I heard them, they didnt really give a punch, more of a hum.

I want the subs for that extra kick of the bass drum. Hardcore has really rapid double bass in it sometimes, and I want soemthign that will be able to enunciate each kick.

I'm guessing if i crossed them over correctly, it would sound exactly as Id want it. But would you say the W6's actually pack that punch im looking for?

Yea, but you need somthing with pretty light suspension and a fast cone. My instincts tell me you might want to audition something along the lines of an Eclipse Alum, PG Ti, or an Alumapro. Hey, I heard there was really great SQL/SPL sub in the for sale section right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif [hint]

IDQ=Image Dynamics. Great sub, but not really known for it's output. They are rated at 350 continuous I believe. I have an Arc wich is the same sub with more output and I plays very nicely and has a great abliity to blend with the rest of your system. Depends on your goals and the install really. I wouldn't necessarly scratch the W6 from your list just yet. Just take your time and buy with your ears!!

FoxPro5 is a good guy, he'll treat you right:)
he has been in a couple of my posts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Its hard to buy with my ears.. not too many good car audio shops around. Sound advice carries high high end components, dont have many subs to display.

this local shop devine sounds just sucks, only one set of comps, no sub setup.

I'm still looking for car audio shops though.

Just searched around for the IDQ, no local shops, nothing on crutchfield or sonic electronix. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

theres a local shop that deals arc though. i'll have to call them and find their location.

for the rapid bass transitions, i should go for the 10" right?

wen did u hav a w6v2 in a 1.25 sealed? or r u talking about mine? =D

but on the topic at hand.. the w6v2 is uber.... i love it! sounds so much nicer than some set ups ive heard, but ive never heard an idq, so i cant compare
