W6 SQ question.

cardomain.com sells IDQ's authorized, with a return policy if thats the route you want to go.

The more subs you own, the harder it is to find "the one", you can't lose with the W6v2, I owned one...loved it. Never had an IDQ, but have purchased one mainly out of curiosity.

double bass sounds great in mine. Love listening to a lil pantera or hatebreed in my ride before I hit the gym.
does it ever sound distorted because the kick is so fast?

thats normally what happens with mine. the kick will go so fast that it will all blend togeter in one big mess of bass.

Not really. At all levels and all types of music I really haven't had any issues with distortion. I am even overpowering them by at least 100 each. I have been impressed with these subs. I like them better than my dub 7's. Just wish I had something better to put them in. The truck kinda sucks for spl. But it is a great daily driver.

The mtx 9500 sounded the same in the store as they did in every install ive seen. Not impressed with those at all. week freq range. the lows crapped out and the highs just werent there. But this has nothing to do with what this guy was asking. If the store has a tight *** sound room it is good but most don't. I hate cartoys cuz they just stick all their subs in a big *** half *** sealed box on a wall and call it a day.

its a bad room. circuit city has a better sub room.

but i went in the floor managers car (complete with a DEQ-P9 pioneer....) and a 10" w7 in a sealed. it honestly didnt sound too difffernt than my subs. but im going to safely blame that on his settings, since he listens to spanish music. and i listen to hardcore.

I've set mine to where they really punch, EQ settings, amp settings. His is probably more of a subtle kind of setting.

the first time I heard the w6's, I was in my school, and a Go army hummer was near the cafeteria. I was half way across the school and heard the subs... and me being obessed i had to go check it out. it was 2 w6's in a ported box, the guy didnt knoww hat it was tuned to, and it just seemed like he talked like he knew what he was talking about to sound cool, haha. But the clarity and the warmth of the sound was amazing. Later I had to go to class on the complete opposite end... and i still heard them. Sounding much better than my subs.

the way I want my subs to sound is to have that punch, but still be very bassy to where i could hear them if my car is parked outside of my job and im in the dead center of the building (if i wanted to of course //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif ) . Also to be able to produce perfect transitions between fasstttt kicks.

of course. I can't buy a 1000 dollar sub. haha. so ill have to settle with the 200-300 dollar ones that will get me close to that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Are the IDQ's really comparable to the w6's? theyre a lottt cheaper than i expected. Whcih is a good thing.

So far through all the first hand experiences I've read, my experiences were most likely just bad settings. And if what GI JOEY said about the rapid double bass, I'm leaning toward the w6's.

I recently heard my friends JL Audio W7 with a JL 500/1 Amp, and it sounds alright.... I dont see what all the hype is around JL's product. I think JL does a great job in the marketing department by giving every celebrity, athelete, and their moms a free W7 to promote for them on Cribs and other TV shows. I guess it doesn't live up to the hype in my mind.

I think you shouldnt just judge that based on the one setup. I hate almost every product from jl but I was more then happy with the 12w6v2's. I have had a total of 4 of them and put them in power from 200-1100 and they have held up great and sounded amazing. I am thinking that maybe your buddies setup is not correct.

Well... I dont know of anything that is wrong with his setup... 4 gauge wiring, clean grounds, and It's in a JL audio box..... Like I said, It sounds good. I just hate how people like JL b/c of the promotions from celebrities and bust on underground companies. Ask a rookie to the car audio scene whats the "Best" brand and 8/10 of them will probably say JL.
