Well, its almost time for the Durango to be sold, i cant take these gas prices, mileage much longer.

I've been looking hard for an 00-04 VW GTI, i really like the looks of them, and they seem to be pretty fuel efficient. So the questions are:

Are there any years that had a lot of problems? Anything to stay away from?

What would be a good mileage range to look at? It seems the ones in my price range (10k or less) have anywhere from 60k to 115k.

I really don't plan on doing many, if any mods to the car, so I've been looking at the VR6's.

Anyways, if the GTI owners could chime in, any information will be appreciated.

Thanks.

GL finding a VR6.....nice cars and the gas mileage is good for the performance htat you get.
I would wait till req gets in here to talk more about the mods available on them
I've actually been surprised, I've found 3 or 4 that are below my 10k price point that have less than 80k miles..

Go to vwvortex and read read read, you can get some really nice power out of the VR6 with a basic turbo. The other thing to keep in mind is mileage is not that great on the VR6's I was looking at one but figured if I am going to get

I'd def be okay with getting the 1.8t, as long as its a manual.

Arent there TONS of cheap mods for the 1.8?

i got mine for 12k with 50k miles on it. 2003 1.8t. the only thing you gott a worry about with the 1.8t is the water pump has a plastic impeller on it and after 50k+ miles it breaks and it costs **** near 1k dealer price to remove and replace because its on the timing belt chain and just a pain in the *** in general. other than that just normal maintenance just like every other vehicle.

cars are great, i got 30mpg on a 10 hour trip to NY recently.

any other questions?
