THE STEREOTYPE FIGHTER!!!
this dude offered to make an enclosure for me for $200 + $115shipping. he would make it out of 1/2 mdf and 1/2 baltic birch laminate i'ma try to get him down to $180

i could make my own:

router=$100

drill = $100

2 sheets of mdf =$45-$50

clear silicone= $5

wood glue= $4

2 clamps= $28

straight edge ruler= $??

dry wall screws= $??

plus, i would probably have to buy bits for the router and drill. i would get lowes to make the cuts for me. if i buy the tools i'm only gonna use them twice ( for the HT enclosure and maybe another enclosure when i get a car). should i let him do it or do it myself??

if it is a reputabile guy who knows what he is doing then I would say go for it. In the end it would be worth the extra money for the guy to build the box right and air tight than it would be for you to do it yourself and have the chance of messing up (since you haven't done one yourself). Plus Lowes cuts, most of the time, equal crap. But why is he using 1/2 mdf and 1/2 whatever laminate that is. I've never heard of that bein done before..

You could probably get a box cheaper than that made by someone from on here.

Otherwise, it's always a good learning experience to do it yourself.

yeah, that would have to be a killer box for that price. building it yourself is much more rewarding. plus, i don't think you can ever have too many tools //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

NEVER

thats cause he's shippin it from virginia. i would love to have someone local make it for me, but the pittsburgh ppl on here are fukkin around, so theyre clearly not tryna do anything with me

I am sure there is a car audio shop somewhere in Pittsburgh that would build that box for you, probably for around the same price. Theres always the option of buying all of those tools, building the box, than taking the tools back :)

1. Go to another city and see what the shops there have to offer.

2. Jigsaw,circular saw, T square,silicone, white glue( elmers bonds wood)drill and screws is all you need. And the wood.

You can get buy without using clamps, ive done it before.

Wait, explain this to me bro. How is the enclosure half MDF and half veneer? And either way, that's expensive as hell.
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't know how he was gonna arrange it, i didn't even bother to ask. i don't mind payin for shipping of course, but even I know it shouldn't cost $200 to make a box. he already has the tools and all the other stuff. all he needs to buy is the wood, which would come up to 45 - 80 bucks (mdf or BB)

get a price from PV Audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif hes closer to PA aint he and he does HT setups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif on a side note though it doesnt matter if it costs him $50 hes charging for labor and thats what he charges, is it alot yes but hell I wont touch a computer for less than $60 per hour.
