volume up, speakers off

I just installed some new audio im my car got a pioneer 5200 deck hooked up to 6.5 memhpis m class in the front and prs in the back. also i have some cheap subs in the trunk. Everything works well accept when i turn it up real loud all the door speakers shut off but the subs still play. Im stumped I dont understand what would make it do that. I imagine it has somthing to do with the head unit. Also the radio sound like its skipping sometimes dont know if its the same problem, anyone know what might be going on? thanks for the help
