Voltage drops with key on.

Multimeter reads 12v with key off when tapped to power connection at amp and ground connection at amp. Also reads 12v from power connection at amp to ground point on seat frame. Turn key on and it drops to 2.7v at both ends of ground wire. Turn key back off and the reading slowly rises back to 12v over about 2 minutes in .1v intervals. I don’t get it. New to this and frustrated. Amp initially indicates protect mode at onset of key turn then lights go dark.

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M

The AudioControl LC7i has a maximum output voltage of up to 8.5volts. It can output up to 8.5 volts which is more than a typical aftermarket head...
