Save up your dough get something that actually is qauilty and not a POS.

i heard the bright red pair of volfenhags in a big azz prefab ported box about a year ago in a pawn shop and thought they were the Greatest of All Time...until I heard a "real" sub. Now I realize how shi**y they are quality wise. All subs will hit (thats what their made for). Go buy a Funky Pup and tell me that aint the hardest hitting sub for the money. Save the Mach 5s and a few ascendants...you aren't going to find a decent sounding woofer for less than 100 dollars, this is not counting used items.

i got a brand new type E for free, from a retail store.

it WAS marked at about $43, but the store gave me a 50 dollar gift card for graduation.

my point is, its less than 50 bucks and i guarantee its way louder and sounds better (and i think it doesnt even sound that great cause ive heard a lot of subs).

I can only chime in on what I have personally listened to regarding Volfenhag. What I have listened to is a pair of 12s in a 4.2 cubes gross 40hz (1" x 14.5" slot vents on each side) ported enclosure in a Pontiac sedan off a Visonik 1600 watt a/b high current amplifier at 1 ohm.

The series itself is alien to me. They have the surround and cone of the DVC line but without the basket. IIRC, the basket looked more like their entry level series with the lag bolts. The store owner hinted at them being a 1999 / 2001 model.

Anyway, they seemed pretty comparable to Power Acoustik Mofos. The got loud. Mad loud. Impressively loud, but sounded absolutely horrible. The song hit a low note and the box unloaded, and the woofers did everything but buttom out for a full 2 seconds with no obvious ill effect - in that sense I give them credit for durability as well. The trunk latch had broken and when he closed the lid you could watch as the pressure threw his trunk lid up and down.

All in all, I'd never buy one, or any Volfenhag product for that matter, but I'm not going to write them off as complete garbage. At least not their 1999-2001 models. =)

ay everyones gota start somewhere. i remember those buy one get one free Jensen subs at wal mart back in the day i had some of those and thought i was the shit till i got some PPI's and a real amp. then i thought i was on to something till i got a pair of old kicker comp 15" and a big amp, then i thought i was beatin hard as hell. then i got a JL 12W6v1 and had SQ AND drop THEN i got alot of others along the way its all a learning process, if buddy is serious bout the hobby he'll figure it out eventully and can sit in here and clown ppl with the best of em. bang them vlofinhops till they pop and upgrade, its worth the investment for some good sh_t you dont have to open your trunk every few blocks and check your subs to make sure they dont get too hot.

ya know i give the guy credit for buying some subs and liking them but dang did he have to go online and parade them around?? i mean them volfs are like fat chicks if you like them keep it to yourself dont go parading them around then get mad when someone talks shit.. he doesnt have to go to a comp i mean he could go to best buy and find out what a decent sub is but whatever iam not rich enough to buy cheap parts
