Volfenhag a german concept - good subs

A friend of mine has 2 premier 3000 watt subs and a memphis mc1000d amp driving them (1 ohm load) these subs are seeing around 1000 rms. Well another friend of mine bought some volfenhag 12's 1000 watt max each and he wanted to hear how they compared to the premier 12's. So we hooked the volfenhags up to his memphis amp and it was impressive. Volfenhag subs aren't bad for the money...before that day I wasn't sure about them. I wouldn't buy there cheaper series but my alpine type R subs are going bad and I may get a pair of volfenhag dual coil subs to replace them. We wanted to see how the amp performed so we hooked the 2000 watt volfenhag amp up to the premier subs and it's no memphis but it did pound HARD.
the thumbnails are the subs i'm thinking about getting. Either them or a planet audio 15.
since when did the memphis mc1000d be able to give 2000 watts at 1 ohm?

Them amps put out 1100 rms at 1 ohm to 1 channel. And when it was tested it actually made 989 rms or something. So I said in my original post that the subs were getting about 1000 rms...500 watts each.

i pulled a set out of a friends car, repaired them (falling apart), and put them back. A week later i fixed them again. Lots of CA glue, Solder and time down the drain and ive got to say these are the worlds WORST SUBS EVER. Id rather run Kraco by-nines then those things. They died one final death and i got him a different sub which was promptly stolen about a week later along with the amp i had just sold him //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Volfenhag subs aren't the only ones that fall apart. I had my type R subs for less then a year when all of the factory glue unsealed where the surround is attached to the cone. The same thing happened to a type S I had. Both have a nice coating of silicone around them now...and as far as performance goes they still sound good they just look like crap.

I'm not saying Volfenhag is the shiz yo...but I am looking for a cheap replacement for the glue covered type R's. I'm not usually a cheapo...aight I got a memphis pr600 amp, type r subs, subzero box, and a gt500 sony head unit and a deep cycle battery in the trunk. So what i'm saying is why spend 300 dollars on a pair of subs and have the glue fall apart when i can spend 100 on a pair of volfenhag subs and get similar to same quality? actually the volfenhag subs I want look pretty nice, fat surround, high power rating, 2 inch voice coils...and as long as they work well and sound alright then i'm not out anything. right?

"and as long as they work well and sound alright then i'm not out anything. right?"

Well therein lies the problem, Reidk, both are subjective. I got a pair of Roadmaster 6x9s from my cousin, who thought they worked well and sounded alright. I applied power, some sine waves, and music; I thought they worked half assed and sounded horrible.

If you are looking for budget subs, do a forum search for "budget subs", and if it doesn't help, start a new thread.
