virus on comp, anyone know how to take it out

i wouldn't take any chances. the absolute sure way to remove the problem is reformat. buuut.... the anti virus software may work.

I would reformat and start doing things right, alternative browsers, AV, anti-spyware... hell I use firefox and don't even use AV and anti spyware and I don't have troubles...

not sure if u know this or not, but there are virus/spyware programs out there that create several other processes. when one closes the other opens the other one back up. ran into that before. and please refrain from the vulgar language and insults

Reformat is the quick way out for rookies who don't have the knowledge or want to take the time to fix the actual problem. you only learn from going through the steps.

I have never had to reformat any of my customer's machines from a virus.

It has taken longer to fix by not doing a format but the customer didn't lose any data..(emails, pictures, etc...). Most people never do backups and so they don't want to lose all their stuff. Now if everyone did backups to DVD or external hard drive and had all their programs to re-install then the format would be an easy fix.

Format=Like lets go buy a new car because one tire is bad...............

Go to http://www.housecall.antivirus.com and run their online scan.

Nothing to buy and it's free.

Then get yourself a good anti-virus and anti-spyware program and keep it up to date.

avg is a pain and didnt work so well for me. now i've been using zonealarm and havent had a problem yet

Yep, I like Zone Alarm better too but sometimes people want the free stuff you know...
