Viper 1200.1 problems...help

AnArchY x57x: I got into an accident awhile ago, before I took my car to the shop I took my subs out, but left my amps in, and when I got my car back, I put my subs back in and tested everything and made sure the settings were correct on the amps.

The subs work fine at lower volumes, but past a certain point, the subs cut off and the amps protection light comes on. Wats the problem?

I took out my meter and measured the ohm rating on the wiring for the subs and it came out to be around 1ohm, which is correct. But what else can I check?

I also noticed that the lights on the amp dim a tad bit.

Set-up : 2 12" RE SE's(dual 4 ohm), Viper D1200 amp

Did he check the grounds to make sure the shop didn't mess with it?

I had an amp do the same thing, it would play at low volume but as soon as you turned up the volume it would go into protect. It turned that it was a problem with the amp and I was given a new one in exchange.

The amp was a Concept CCD1200.1.

The ground was actually unhooked but that may have been my fault, but I fixed that and the problem with the amp goin into protection is stillt here

Did you sand around the ground?

Are you sure that the subs are wired right?

What gauge wire do you have hooked up to the amp?

The ground is sanded, it's always been and ive never had problems before.

The subs are wired to a 1 ohm load, checked it with my meter.

and I have 16awg wire from the subs to the amp, and 4awg from ground to amp

did the guys at the shop turn the car (and cd player, and send power to the amp) while the ground was unhooked?

that could have messed up the amp possibly.

Now I'm starting to think its my alternator...signs point to it.

Before my lights were fine as I blasted my system, but after awhile my lights began to dim but I neglected the issue.

And then I noticed a whining noise coming from the engine when I start my car and it's a possibility that its my alternator.

But the thing that throws me away from thinking it's the alternator is that when the car isn't running and I'm listening to the music, the amp still cuts off at higher volumes...
