Hey all.
I bought a Jensen VX7010 for my truck, as well as a headrest monitor for the kids. I bought this knowing that I could play DVDs to a second screen while I go on many long trips throughout the year. I got everything installed on my own, stuff I have never done before and learned a great deal about my truck in the process. Everything is running pretty decently, but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get the DVD to output to the rear while not actually having to listen to it.
I wired up the Video Out to the monitor, as well as the Front R and Front L red/white audio cables to the same monitor. The instructions weren't clear on this, actually not acknowledging this setup at all. I contacted customer support about it, which wasn't extremely helpful, but told me that {should} work. It does, except now I have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles playing over my speakers, instead of to the monitor. Also, furthering that, if I change to another source, like Sirius, so I don't have to listen to a cartoon while driving, everything will stop and the video wont even output. I'd be ok with no audio; the kids wouldn't probably notice anyway, but without having any video, it will be a nightmare for long trips.
I had a portable DVD player hooked to it for a while until I found out the trick to the audio part, but since that no longer loads movies (bought it in 2006, not a surprise), I am left with nothing but tears and fighting. Not to mention, the kids will be bored.
If anyone is familiar with this model, or if there's a similar work around for other models, anything will help at this point. I'm leaving from Maine to Boston on Wednesday, so I don't have time to wait for Jensen's "service" center to reply. At this point, I'm considering putting a cheap home DVD player in to appease them, though being able to see what's on the screen to get it setup won't be an easy task on the highway.
Thanks for any input, suggestions, or solutions.
