Becuase it's sony. A 1200 watt amp is not that tiny, nor does it run with that small of a wire. Sony. Sealed box, pre-fab from the way it looks. His mirror barely moves.

Actually I met one. A while back i was at a party and this guy starting talking about his system. Of course, I pipe in and ask him what kind of stuff he has and he tells me he has a single 10 in a custom ported box. He seemed more keen to talking about his indash dvd screen, I was like "ok that sounds pretty sweet."

A few minutes later i had to go on a liquor run and told him to come with so he could hear my stuff. At the time I was running two 12in Idmax's sealed off two Alpine MRD-m1000's in an 02' Altima. Being the punk I am, I play the loudest (bass-wise) CD I had at the time which I believe was Lil' John, and played a few songs that had REALLY gut-wrenching lows (i think that car has a pretty low natural resonant frequency which helped). Well he tells me "yeah man this sounds pretty good... I'd say my setups probably pretty **** close to being this loud" (this kind of made me giggle inside because I was obviously geared toward of a more SQ setup at the time). I get kind of excited though, assuming he has a REALLY beefy 10 in a high tuned box with a ton of power.

So we go back to the house and sit in his Lancer, and he starts playing some sort of non-bass heavy music. It was seriously the WEAKEST thing I had ever heard in my life.

"Yeah sounds pretty good right?"

"Um sure man sounds nice"

"Yeah I dont listen to any rap or else you could see how loud it gets.

"I bet bro, mind if I check out your trunk?"

Single 10in Infinity reference with a Kenwood amp. Wow. The box was I'de say around 2cu/ft sealed, and had random 1 inch holes in it, like 5 or 6. Didn't ask. Gain and bass boost all the way up, no crossovers on. Wow again. I check out his in-dash and all the crossovers are off on there too.

Well after setting up his amp and all his in-dash crossovers and EQ I gave him the most obvious advice to get a smaller box built that DIDNT HAVE HOLES IN IT. Hah. I also had to explain to him why his amp wasn't really 2000 watts.

Don't know why I posted this whole story but how could someone sit in a car that makes your whole face itch and claim your system (that has ZERO bass) is "pretty close to this loud." Something I'll definitely never forget for sure

yeah a buddy of mine is a dealer of treo's...

kid came in and told him that the best subs were alphasoniks because they had 4" of excursion each way...

and that the dub7's pwned all treo gear...

I couldn't believe...

for one of the first times in my life I was speechless....
