video - 2 bl 15's on vfl 200.1 @ .5 ohm

i would still stock up on some better bat power, for the amps sake. What are the yellow tops resting at right now?Whats your overall wiring setup right now?

*****s are movin.

How you like them compared to the q's? I gotta ditch this q for something a little more beefy. Its not a fan of a touch over 3k //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif
they rest at about 12.3-4 with the truck off. have single runs of 1/0 for the big 3 and connecting the 2 batteries, 1/0 into the amp and grounded directly to the battery.

and my god, you're putting 3k on that one q i sold you?? i could smell coil with half that! sq, obviously the q's were better, spl i'd say these were the same when i had it at 2 ohms, now, theres no comparison. MUCH louder.

to stop it from skipping try 1inch x 1 inch pieces of sponge under the hu... that way it has something to absorb the vibrations but its not enough to get it hot

Is the back battery grounded to the chassis? If not i would do that. Otherwise i would add another battery out back.

That big of voltage drops will hurt those batteries permanently, so i would try to address it before you kill em.

Also, does you truck have those ground straps from chassis to frame? i know i've heard of some of those things having those, and should be upgraded with the big 3.

thats the benefit of high voltage and low current amplification. 3k @ 2 ohms is the same ammount of current as 750 @ .5 ohms. So really i'm probably causing quite a bit less heat than you were.

i drove around beating on it for a while, on the highway to keep the voltage as high as possible, after about 30 minutes it went into protect. i pulled over, and it was really hot. let it cool down for about 30 minutes, turned it back on and its fine, was just the thermal protection kicking in. going to add some rubber spacers between the amp and box to get a little more air flowing around it.

it's been a while since i put in the 2nd battery, but i dont believe i did ground it to the chassis. will get that done tomorrow.

what is the idea behind grounding the chassis to the frame? if my amps, batteries and alts are all grounded to the chassis, how will grounding the chassis to the frame help?

lol i have a white explorer also. right now i have a stock alt, yellowtop, and 4 runs of 1/0. 2 of those runs are full grounds. here is my battery.

i have 2 bxi2006d's. today off throw it up i as able to get my voltage to 12.9. other than that is doesnt seem to get below 13.3

the deck skipping thing i had problems with too. it seems the dash kit does not secure the deck very well. i use a video ipod now but since i got my second amp i am having many problems with it not working on me going into protect mode. if you do the ipod thing make sure it a flash version, like the nano cuz those have no moving parts so they should be better.

nice car flex. i am thinking of deadening my roof pretty soon also. my back hatch moves a lot so i think i am going to silicon that shut.

maybe once i get my 2 L7's i will be getting some flex like yours.

here is a pic of my beauty on the very right

hmm... basically the same charging wiring as me then, other than 2 runs for 2 amps. i bet i'll see a big boost when i ground that rear battery tomorrow, no way my amp is pulling that much more current than your 2.

well i have done installs in explorers with just grounding under neath the rear seat and there was horrible voltage problems. another guy on these forums had voltage problems to. he also had a battery in the back. i think his name is spl_xplorer on ROE

i grounded to the floor panel in my cargo area. sanded it down. put a bolt through and i read same voltage at the battery as i do at my ground when the system is off. so it seems to me like its ok to ground there.

dont know if it makes sense but you know how you can fold the rear seats down then pull the carpet up? i grounded to that little metal right near the bottom rear end of the rear seats. **** i tried explaining and i still dont think it makes sense ha
