VERY effecient sub?

Really looking for something that will get moving at about 500wRMS, and have a nice bit of SQ. Looking for outside opinions, mainly adire/re/soundsplinter and such? I'm not very familiar with these 'smaller' companies, but I definitely want to look into a single 12/15" thats super effecient.

Not really looking for balls to the wall performance, or price-tag, but if it's there, I might drop the $$$ for it.

Thanks!

You know what's amazing....back not so many years ago, a sub that could handle 500w was considered to be a very high power handling sub. Now people consider those rather low power handling and search for something "super efficient".

To be quite honest, there are a lot of subs that will have very impressive output with "only" 500w, especially if you go ported.

What's your budget? RE SE would work very well. SS Rl-i or Rl-p as Trigger mentioned. OZ Audio Matrix Elite. HSU Research ASW-1203. Image Dynamics IDQv2. JL Audio w3v2 or w6v2 series.

Also, you aren't going to find something that's "super efficient" if you still want a small enclosure size. Don't confuse "super efficient" with simply having medial power requirements. Those are actually two totally different objectives. "Super efficient" would be pro audio drivers that have 97db+ sensitivities, and require very large enclosures. Subwoofers that can reach full potential or close there-to with relatively "lower" power levels are subs like those listed above.

Nowhere in my previous comment did I say 'only 500wrms'... I am well aware of effeciency ratings, I just stated my wattage range to make it easy for people to post up some ideas.

Budget - Not really an issue at this point, as I have the amplifier, and the rest of the setup already, it's just a matter of when and where's at this point.

If you can still get your hands on one, the Image Dynamics IDW (the precursor to the IDMAX) is probably the most efficient you could buy.

My vote? Soundstream EXACT. Doesn't take a whole lot to get moving, but will take 500wrms and love it. Very clean output, good low-end extension... overall, very good SQ woofer.

And hey, I use 'em too!

Avalanche 15. Not reletively "efficent" for the 1w/1m means because of XBL^2, however the Avalanches get nose tickle, ball shakeing loud with 500w, especially in ported enclosures. they go for around 200+shippping broken in now-a-days.

Something i was looking at to play with before i got a hell of a deal on a DEI 1100D was Eclipse's Speakers on Ebay/Used. They have a line that you can pick up for mid 100's easy that move over 1.5" One way with 500w. As far as real world loudness i dont know about.

the RL-P is sapposed to be a great driver.

Ryan, Jason, and myself have all had our Mags on 250-500rms at one time. I can promice you that they are very nice with 300-500rms. They really dont need the 900watts they are rated at. I have a 1000d on mine now, but it is setup for about 600 watts. They are low end monsters in a selaed enclosure and from what Denim(Aaron) has said they are equally impressive ported. For $350ish they are one hell of a driver. Easilly comparible to the W7, Brahma, XXX, and IDmax in SQ and output at respected power. Definatly my fav SQ/SQL woofer to date.

EDIT: 500 Id say W7(could fit in either catagory) or XXX

aAny of these drivers can and will impress you.
