Very confused here..

I have a Soundstream STL2.560 amp and 2 8" jbl shallow mount 4ohm subs. I am not sure what is the best way to hook them up. It is a 2 channel amp that can be bridged but I dont know if I should be bridging it in series or parallell. I currently have it bridged in parallell and it gets hot pretty quick (5 minutes or so) at full throttle and it shuts off for a couple seconds then kicks back on. I understand that this is a fail safe in the amp but dont know if I have too much of a load on it and/or I have the speakers not wired properly. I wouldnt think that wiring each of the subs to each channel for 2 channel operation would give me the best bang for the buck. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

just run one sub to each channel

or run it bridged in series. if you run it in parallel bridged your going to cook something.

just make sure you set the gain correctly and leave the bass boost off
