Vehicle choice

When building a show car, that will be entered in audio competitions as well, does the choice of vehicles matter much to judges?

I'm currently driving a 97 Impreza Outback Sport, and was considering turning it into a show car, but 1) it's nothing highly desirable or impressive, 2) it's my daily driver, and I'd probably prefer to keep the wear & tear off my show car, just take it out on weekends, and I had a 3, but can't remember it now. But by the same token, I already own the car, so that's more money I could put into it.

If I did get something else, I would probably consider an old extended cab S-10 or S-10 Blazer, but open to other possibilities.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Depends. Some vehicles will place you out of certain categories - for example, I wouldn't be able to compete in Amateur classes, simply because I drive a commercial van...at least it works that way in MECA.

You don't have to worry about that.
