ok first of all, don't be a dick. i came in here for help, instead of screwing my stuff up. i just thought it might be a simpler way to solve my problem, and i didn't really want to run my sub in 8 ohms, because it's already dissapointingly quiet.

there is a product called an impedence matching transformer, it was made by veritas audio, that will allow you to lower the impedence the amp sees, and you only loose 20-30% of the gained power in heat in the transformer, they are hard to find tho

its called an accumatch and was marketed under both the veritas audio and stinger brands

accumatch, thats what I was think of. I remembered it started with an A.

Anyways with so many different coil configurations available today just buy a new sub.

yeah. a friend of mine has a 15" kicker L7 and a directed 1100 rms @ 1 ohm amp that he said he'll sell me for like 500 bucks, cause he doesn't use them anymore and it's just been sitting for like 3 years. i'm thinking about buying that.

thats way too much money for that setup. $500 bucks could get you a Si mag and a saz1500d....
