Using car amps in the house

ok, i kno u need a 12volt power supply, but is there another way to use a amp in the house without one? can I use the TV as a remote turn on?

Fab up a PC power supply to run it....but you wouldn't get very much power out of the PC PS at all, meaning you would be VERY limited on the amount of power you could push out of your amp.

And it would take some heavy soldering skills to rig your TV up to be the REM source....don't think that would be something you'd want to tackle as you'd need to tear your TV apart and try to find a 12V lead that only has power when the TV is on.
