Using BMW stock HU--->>EQ-->>Amp sound ok?

I have an 02" BMW 5-series that I want to tweak the system a little cause it sounds like rice cracker when I turn it up a bit. I have not figured out the size of the speakers yet but they seems to be 4 or 5 1/4. The stock deck has a built in amp and all that crap so it's gonna be a PITA to pull out and rewire. Instead of just using a high-low converter straight to the amp which would not give me any control flexibility I have a Pioneer DEQ-9200 that I want to use. I have 2 Eclipse Alum. 12's but will only use 1 for this car along with an undecided amp for low and high but speakers I'm leaning towards CDT HD, cause I have it in my tahoe and it love it maybe some MB Quartz as a 2nd option.

Considering that I used decent components all around. Will my system sound half way decent w/o replacing the headunit?
