Does anyone have any experience on using AutoCAD to build speaker boxes or at least have a few files as examples? I have the software but don't exactly know how to use it...yet.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

ive never built speaker boxes but have designed many other things. I took 2 classes in the past that used this program. What do you want to know?

i have experience with autocad. what are u trying to do? if ur trying to draw a layout of a box, then the only thing that u might need to know about is offsetting, the circle function, and maybe trimming if u plan on drawing 3 views of the box. and also the line function, cuz ur gonna need to offset something. but if thats not what u had in mind, tell me what u need to do and i'll try to help you. the keyboard commands are as follows:

offset - o

line - l

circle - c

trim - tr

yeah if your just designing the box it shouldnt be difficult at all. I never thought about using autoCAD for designing boxes...tahst a good idea. Yeah snova, i happend to recieve one of the AutoCAD programs for free too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I think anyone and everyone can get this program for free:p . Basically I know it's powerful and can do a lot of stuff but I have no idea how to start out. Usually if I'm given a general step-by-step turtorial or an example, I can figure it out but I need a starting point. I want to know the general layout that will get me started then I can tweek that after I get the hang of it.

i mean its basically like drawing it on paper, only you can get alot more technical, i drew up my box on autocad L97 and it looked pretty proffesional, but as for help man, its pretty hard to explain all the functions and stuff, i mean i took 2 yrs of HS drafting with the same software and it still took some time to figure out how to draw the size i wanted and be able to print it.

you may just be on your own with tutorials, but if this helps, u just draw lines, and trim them up, just enter in the distances you want, and just start with 1 side, then make all 4 or however many corners, its really not the easiset box making program, but if you know what your doing, it works. um i just started typing in distances, then i zoomed out to get a good window of the whole side i was drawing, then u have to go under settings, or options, and select the drawing limits....man its complicated, if you dont knwo what your doing, i would suggest tackling the learning of a new software prog. and trying to design a box, if you stay tuned, i should have pics up of mine in a little while (few days)

sorry i could really help, but its a huge program //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Looks like I will have to resort to going to Barn & Nobel this weekend. No problem really. BTW, terifi, that is a nice box. It's innovative to say the least. Great job, hopefully I'll make something better later.:p //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hah hah, good luck, and thanks for the compliment, thats my first box too,

you think i may be a natural? hah hah

oh and the trick for the flush windows is using polycarbonate not plexiglass, so i could route out ledges, and use 1/4" polycarbonate, giving it a great look!!!

anyone interested in buying a box? lol, ill make you one like mine, to your specs?
