using a maxxlink ... wtf?

It says that using the maxxsonics Maxx-link mlx-100 that you can link up to 5 amps max.... So say for instance I got 3 cheap amps that state that they are 4000 watt amps.... and linked 3 of these amps together (say realistically they only get at best about 1000 rms for each) how would I wire 3 of these amps to 1 sub? its basically a module that allows you to strap up to 5 amps together right? or would I be strapping 2 amps together for one coil and then using another say 2 amps for a total of 4 amps to the neg? I'm just really confused as to how you would wire more than 2 amps to a single sub. The sub i have is a D2 sub setup as well. any and all help is very much welcomed!

I think you are reading it wrong. Its link up to FIVE AMP PAIRS. Thats pairs of two amps. So saying that. You can hook up four amps to one sub.

- Allows interconnectivity / linking mobile amplifiers into a "master and slave" configuration

- Link up to five (5) amplifier pairs- Remote level control with LED clipping indicator

- Master / Slave control switch

- 24dB adjustable low-pass (35Hz to 250Hz)

- Built-in 6.5Hz set-up test tone

- 24dB adjustable subsonic filter (15Hz to 35 Hz)

- 10dB adjustable parametric bass EQ

- Variable wide / narrow bandwidth control

- Built-in line driver variable from 1-9 volts

- 0 to 180¡ adjustable phase control

- 2-channel RCA audio pass-thru

now say i use the maxxlink and use amps that are not designed to be a master/ slave setup. and are stable down to one ohm each. if i use something like this what kind of ohm load does each amp see? like for instance if i wire the terminal at the box at 1 ohm does each amp see a 1 ohm load or does it see a .5 ohm load?

Depends on how many amps you run. If you run 2 each amp would see .5 3 amps would be .33 4 would be .25. you would need a 3ohm nominal load so each amps load is as close to 1ohm if your running 3 amps.

Just asking do you own one?? I say this because you say three amps. That is not how its made. Its made to run pairs of amps. Not a pair then a single amp. It can run up to 5 PAIRS of amps.
