used DVD's from amazon?

I gotta hella deal on a HD DVD player, but about the only place I can find them is amazon. I'm wondering how good the used DVDs are. I hate paying full price on a movie if I can get a used one. But I don't wanna buy one that is all messed up. Should I buy used ones?
