well today gas jumped like .30 to 3.95 and im trying to get back into school this fall and im needing something cheap with great gas mileage. looks...not so important, as well as speed, just needs to do great on fuel. i will be driving roughly 75 miles from my house to work to school and back home so...when i say cheap im talking like $2500 or so. id love to find a crx or an older civic hatch (early-mid 90s) or even a 2 door civic. i just started this new job and worked there for 3 weeks and already got a .30 raise so i might be doing alright if they would put me on fulltime but i have to wait so they can see how i work ya know? but since im part time, i cant afford anything more than that right now. but during the summer i could get moved up to full and pay it down quite a bit plus in october i start getting a bonus every 3 months and i have my government check which should help out alot. so anything you guys know of? im in northeastern kentucky about 3min away from the ohio line and about 30min from the wv line.

yeah. man they have a few crxs on ebay but man they like 4k and i couldnt picture any crx worth 4k ya know?? and all the classifieds and all that kinda stuff is overran with **** v8s, people just cant get rid of 14mpg @ $4 a gallon..thats why my dads expedition is settin round back. its 14mpg...4.6 4x4....killer at the pump. but ill keep an eye out and if you see a good deal on one just pm me or something. thanks bubby.

You want a Honda? You pay da' price! Everyone and their dog wants a Honda, so there go whatever you save on fuel in order to get the "name".

Look for other cheap 4-cylinders that aren't in need of major repairs. One big repair bill turns a bargain buy into a lemon after all...LOL! Domestics and Korean cars offer the best chance of finding a cheap 4-cylinder.

Craiglist is your friend but you have to be smart enough to look in close-by metro areas when you are out in the boondocks. I live in Coos Bay (small town, isolated) but I'm within a 4 hour drive of Portland. The bargains up there are well worth the time and expense to go get them, so broaden your seaching territory.

humm. well ill keep an eye out. i just hate to buy a non-running car because this turns into that and then after you get that fixed this pops up

but like i said ill keep on lookin. thanks

Honda's are def good cars for fuel efficiency, but if the prices for them are gouging, look perhaps for a toyota, nissan or mazda. All have excellent fuel efficiency also, and are probably not as pricey as a honda. For example, I just picked up a 1990 mx-6 for a back and forth beater, and got it for 500 bucks cause everyone wants a honda. I get a good 25mpg, and could probably get pretty close to 30 if I tried. Toyota's are great too, very reliable cars as well. Craigslist is the place to be, maybe even broaden your search to some surrounding areas that you normally wouldn't consider driving to?

if i sold my CRX i'd have to have at least $5000 for it and i'd be loosing money....but it has seen over 40mpg on the highway FTW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Honda's have high insurance compared to other cars (I have one). I do 60 miles a day back and forth from home to work. Check into this: http://lexington.craigslist.org/car/661278744.html

If it's a 5 speed, I'd go for it. If not, the transmission will die soon. I normally wouldn't suggest a Ford, however my 94 Escort saves me $100+ a month over my Subaru, and $50+ over the Accord. Gets about 35 mpg. Not great to look at, but it works and is cheap.
