Use coupler to extend RCA

Am I wrong in thinking its important to put something between the 2 RCAs so they dont touch as the coupler has metal on each and can touch. Or is this not a problem (somehow)?

go get a coupler from radioshack that is a dual unit if you are so worried. It will hold them separate. The outside is just a ground so it should not matter anyway. the dual ones look nicer too if you do need to use them.
