i know i should of posted this in the HU subforum , but who really frequents that often? i know i dont.

anywho. i figured i need a usb drive so i dont run through cd-r's like crazy. so i was wondering what everyone uses since i know some are slower than others. i also figured id purchse through newegg.com , so links would be a big plus.

id prefer something 2Gb+/bang for the buck type deal.

and my fiance is also looking for one for school ,

suggestions?

OCZ and Corsair are all I would look at for USB thumb drives. You can find sweet deals on both. I see sales for 50% or more on the OCZ ones all the time over at http://www.ncixus.com

Why settle for a measly thumb drive? Go for a USB HD instead, they can't be that much more expensive "over there"? They have to comply to the "USB mass storage class devices" standard, and the HU must be able, in most cases anyway as I have seen, to deliver a minimum of 500 mA through the USB port. In some cases, you can buy cheap add ons if you run into problems with the power requirement. I want my whole collection in the same place, that's why I will go the HD way.

im not too sure how usb browsing friendly my HU is , so id rather not have to run though 10's of folders to find one song when i wont even have 5+gb's of music that i frequently listen to on it.

if oyu watch the sales at your local electronics stores, aka best buy others you can get a good deal and a good brand, i got a 4 gig the other day for $25, it was a scandisk from best buy

im thinking ill just go ahead and grab the pny from work (sears) when they go on sale.

theyll have the 2gb for $10. not sure about the 4gb , but its $25 now.
