Amp ratings for the 2007 season will be the highest derived power rating based on the following formula:

1/2 ohm rating multiplied by .25

1 ohm rating multiplied by .40

2 ohm rating multiplied by . 55

Example: 2000 @ .5 ohm = 500 watts

2000 @ 1 ohm = 800 watts

2000 @ 2 ohm = 1100 watts

This is effectively a max power rating system but done is a way so as to police the class and rating structure.

Furthermore. Any amplifier that retails for more than a specified dollar amount per watt (somewhere around $1.25 per watt) will be subject to testing and re rating.

Our Thinking: here it is..

Change just for the sake of change is worthless. There were some great ideas posed and soem very creaive ones as well. Like most great ideas many of had ways to get around the rules and create the same problems we have had in the past. We would like to thank all the members who helped us with great ideas. After reveiwing all of the responses we feel the above is in the best interests of the majority of USACI memebrs and the furue of this organization.

Another thought... Can you imagine how long a show will take... Verify amps, at what imp they make power do the math,,, Hell there are some directors that cant run a show now... You just made it much more difficult for the judges...

And great for manufactures that offer amps at lower imp....

What there lots of weed and shrooms involved it this structure...

Good point, If you thought cheating was insane now...all it takes is someone to claim their amp does its power at lower impedance. Unless the Juges are going to clamp, and DMM every amp that comes through the lanes

Im confused on the max power deal...for example is my Orion 1200d 1200RMS 2400MAX is it rated at 480(1200x.55) or 1320 (2400x.55)? Ralph keeps throwing the term MAX power around, are they seriously going to use the MAX ratings or are they just substituing it for the Term RMS?
