US Amps vs Zapco ?

Well headroom I shal Have!

My Tweets are rated 10 watts at 8 Ohm, I will have 50+ at 4 ohm

The Scans are 40 watts at 8 Ohm... I will have 150+ on them in 4 ohm

Not sure what the Peerless are rated at, but I am sure a 300 watt amp will be plenty.

well despite of what any speaker is rated, a tweeter crossovered at like 2.5khz and up will be fine with around 50+ watts RMS, a midrange (like above 200 Hz) will be fine with around 80-100+ watts RMS and a good midwoofer (like from 50-80Hz above, depending on speaker) will work well with 150-200+ Watts.

too little power will result in clipping with dynamic peaks and destroy your speakers much more easily than an amp with "too much power".

just try it out yourself, hook your system up to your deck and you will notice the dustcap of the midwoofers will get warm while listeneing to higer levels with even only around 10-15Watts RMS on them. its because of the clipping and the "bad" signal. and SQ will not be comparable to any aftermaket amplifier.

Well not sure what qualifies as Old school but here are the ones I have. 3 not yet installed, 1 installed.

Most h/u's are rated at 10%THD. Thats way more than your average amp.

Seems rather ironic that they put out a " bad" signal.

I have had a USA-1000x, a arc audio 1500dr (tripath), ZAPCO REF 1000, and other zapco amps and I prefer the sound of the zapco (for subs). I never had any us amps for components however
