US Amps vs Zapco ?

As for ears..... I am a total believer that not everyone hears sound the same way. I have been in many heated debates over wethers a change in your audio equipment can change the sound, to which I say "YES!" However I know my father can listen to the same changes, and he swears he can not hear a difference. I have even gone as far as changing my wire on my home system and heard a slight difference. Some of my friends that did the A/B test with me heard it to, others did not. Since I heard the change I stuck with it, but of course the ones who did not hear a change thought it was a waste of money, and they have no plans on changing.
This is why some are willing to spend huge money on a system, and others think its a wate of money. I would put money on it, its the ears of each person. Some just do not hear what others do.
Agreed 100%!! The law of diminishing returns.

The best source of information about equipment is someone who 1) attends concerts fairly regularly, 2) uses good master tapes of his own making for listening tests, 3) has the equipment and the know-how to check measurements against subjective reactions, 4) has frequent access to new components, preferably on the service bench, and 5) has the good judgment to know that his taste in sound may not be the same as yours.

blub.

well i had both some usamps and now i am running some zapcos. c2k and z series limited.

both are top of the line and which you will like better depends on your way you want your system to sound and of course the other parts of the car-audio-chain in your car. speakers will make a bigger difference then amps.

but anyways i would prefer the 9.0 over a 2000x but a 2000x over a ref-series. just depending on how much $$$ you have to spend. nothing out there that expensive as the c2k series but these amps are worth the bucks.

will will not be dissapointed by any of these.

what else can it be used for?
definately for not every single amp out there in the market. for as often as foxpro5 changes his undies, the dc processors are still limited regardless.
Don't wear undies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Commando FTW!

And I was using the DC's as Zapco's benchmark for quality sound...I assume that they are more capable than the C2k's. Maybe they aren't, I don't know. And also I was making fun of the fact that you can process your processing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Ha Ha! An Econ major? I am in a Eco-218 class this quarter so we have discussed this alot this quarter.

Anyway.... Looking for a 300 Watt X2 with Highpass crossover... I found a US Amps Merlin MD23 that does exactly that. Any thoughts?

Oh and should I sell the 400x or 600x to run my Scanspeak Revelators? They are rated at 40 watts @8ohm. the 400x is 100 @ 4ohm (12 Volts) the 600x is 150 @ 4ohms (12Volts)

thats econ 1a stuff. basic.

that second quote isnt mine.
I'm sorry, you've mistaken me for someone without reading skills.

I realized what you were saying about bringing the rear fill forward, but that still doesn't contradict the fact that no matter how "perfectly" you set your time alignment, you can't get both sides of the vehicle to sound correct unless you turn it off and physically change the path lengths //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Maybe that's what you were getting at, but it wasn't very clear if it was.

time alignment will work exactly the same as moving the speakers physically.

but i see no sense, neither at home nor incar to position the speakers exactly for the stereo triangle. then you would have to fix your head in a vise in order to keep the distances. an approximate positioning will work good enough and you can get this done with your time alignment precisely enough.

just adjust time alignment to an approx. accuracy of like ~2 inches and it will make sound your system different. most people like it better, others prefer to not use it. its up to you what you like better.

and keep the 600x, there are two things you cannot have enough of: clean power and current on demand. an amp that puts out less than it is built to will stay more relaxed and cooler. dynamic headroom.

Ok, I just do not want to hurt the Scanspeaks at $220 each! lol
Pfffft...I think those Scans would just laugh at that power. And I agree with Dan....nothing like a little head.....room for your listening pleasure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
